Teaching with Primary Sources Mississippi is proud to be part of the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Consortium. Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) is the Library of Congress’s premier educational program, focused on helping educators enhance students’ critical thinking and analysis skills and content knowledge using their collection of millions of primary sources.

In 2016, Drs. Kenneth V. Anthony, Nicole C. Miller, and Paul E. Binford of the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, & Special Education (the College of Education), in partnership with Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District (SOSD), were awarded a grant from the Library of Congress to develop a social studies curriculum, which infuses instruction with digitized primary sources in grades 3 through 12.  Selected SOCSD teachers will have the opportunity to participate in professional development related to the use of primary sources in instruction and receive technology to support the development and implementation of lessons for their students.

In addition, Teaching with Primary Sources Program at Mississippi State University offers professional development opportunities to current and future educators.
